Shopping Port Charlotte Town Center Mall at 1441 Tamiami Trial in Port Charlotte has over one million square feet of retail shopping spaces and includes Burdines, Dillard's, J C Penney, Sears as well as Bealls department store and a 16 screen cinema. For the bargain shopper, the area offers Sam's Club, WalMart, K Mart, Marshall's and Target. There's also the Sun Flea Market in Port Charlotte at 18505 Paulson Drive. It's an indoor, air conditioned flea market with over 100 vendors, family entertainment center with three-storey play place (tunnels, ball baths, etc) and arcade food court. Open Friday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm. |

Downtown Punta Gorda boasts Fishermen's Village Shopping and Yacht Basin located beside Charlotte Harbor and features thirty-three unique shops, restaurants, an international sailing school, a tennis club, resort rental apartments and first-rate marina facilities including ninety-eight slips. A little further afield but well worth the trip are two large outlet malls. To the south is the Miromar Outlet Mall with 120 stores between Fort Myers and Naples. To the north is the Ellenton Outlet Mall with 130 shops located between Sarasota and Tampa. Both malls are just off the Interstate 75 and easy to find. |

The area offers a wide choice of supermarkets, WalMart, Publix, Kash n'Karry and Winn-dixie are conveniently located near Rotonda. Post offices and a video rental store are also nearby. For fresh fruit and vegetables try Sheckler Produce on South McCall Road in Englewood. West Dearborn Street in Englewood is an eclectic mix of 1950's Florida and cute boutiques. |

Rotonda and Englewood Restaurants Prime time - Rotonda Plaza (next to Food Lion) has a lively bar. Happy Hour - Monday to Friday and Special of the day (all you can eat - fish and chips on Friday). Varied menu - steaks, fish and Mexican. Good prices. Recommend the Prime Rib. The Fishery - Placida Road. Take Rotonda Boulevard West (Food Lion) turn left onto Placida Road. Just past the causeway to Boca Grande on the right hand side. Definitely a must for seafood lovers. Little more expensive than other local restaurants. The combination appetizer is something different, includes a sample of fried alligator. Meat and chicken dishes also. |

Nicola's - Access road off SR 776. South of Winn dixie. From Rotonda turn right onto Oceanspray. Turn left on Access Road on the left next to Amoco gas station. Home made Italian pasta dishes, pizza and garlic bread. Daily specials. Good prices. Good food. Captains Table (Englewood). Take SR776. Turn left at McDonalds down Beach Road. Turn left at 'T' junction. Tiki bar, music nightly and live group on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Varied menu reasonable prices. Rum Bay (Palm Island Resort on Palm Bay). Reservations a must for the ferryboat. Look in local press for "coupon" specials. Weekends are very busy - best days - Monday to Thursday, lunch or Dinner. Speciality BBQ'd ribs. |
Johnny Liver Rocks (Placida Road, Rotonda). Take rotonda Boulevard West (Food Lion). Turn left onto Placida Road. At the Palm Island Marina Complex. Lovely setting overlooking Palm Island Marina. Slightly more expensive - Seafood specialities well worth the extra. Steak and Chicken also on menu.
Gulf View Grill (Beach Road, Englewood). Very nice restaurant overlooking Englewood beach - spectacular sunsets. Slightly more expensive but with a European style menu. Mad Sam's (Beach Road, Englewood). Overlooks Lemon Bay. Fish, chicken and pasta dishes, Burgers and sandwiches. Spectacular sunsets. Good food and location. Sometimes of the year you can watch the dolphins from the deck. |

Happy Hour Monday to Friday up to 7pm. Ideal food and atmosphere for yount-at-heart people. Varied menu including Mexican. Outback Steakhouse, Port Charlotte. Outer section of shopping mall. One of the most popular steak restaurants in Florida. Australian theme. Excellent steaks. Also Lamb, chicken and fish dishes. A little more expensive than other restaurants but definitely worth a visit. |
